MOTORSPORTS GAMING LEAGUE
OFFICIAL RULEBOOK
In partnership with Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) Department of Automotive Technology, we’re happy to present the Motorsports Gaming League.
The Motorsports Gaming League (MGL) is a competitive video game racing league focused on high school, collegiate, and open series competitors launching with its inaugural season in Spring 2020. The Motorsports Gaming League will debut with Forza Motorsport 7 for Xbox and PC. Please view the official ruleset for Forza 7 below:

Week by Week Races:

Open Practice

Qualifying/Hot Laps
  • All drivers will run their qualifying hot laps on Friday evenings from 6PM to 8PM CST. You may run as many laps as you want in this time period. You can submit as many screenshots on the UGC Esports site as you like and the system will keep your best lap time and use it for your hot lap. This is to determine the starting order of the following day’s race.

Race Day
  • Based on your hot lap times you will join a lobby that will be listed on site. You will race a clean race and report your score afterward. Participants are required to report placings on UGC Esports.

Delays:
UGC will not tolerate intentional delays in any capacity. We will do our best to enact a fair judgment on any reasonable delay placed on the race as long as drivers contact and notify a UGC admin.
  • If your race is starting late and you don’t think you will make the next round start time, please contact a UGC admin and let them know before the race starts
  • You have until 15 mins after the posted start time of the race to be in the lobby and ready to race. If you’re not prepared by 15 mins to play, you will be banned from participating in that week’s race.

Host
For all league games, the host is responsible for starting the games with the correct settings. The host is also responsible for not starting until all players have joined the lobby.

Party Privacy:
  • It is the responsibility of the _____ host of a game to make sure the race starts with the correct players in the lobby. If players join your lobby, the host must remove them before the start of the round/race

Connection Issues:
  • If a player lags out there will be no restart of the race. The player who lags out will receive last place points for the week.

Cheating:
All accusations of cheating or violation of any of the listed rules require proof from the accusing party. UGC admins will make the best judgment around accusations of cheating to enforce any penalties and to make the best-informed decision. The burden of proof is on the accusing party. We highly suggest that as many drivers as possible take pictures/screenshots and/or videos of their races to support their claims. If no proof can be provided of a cheating accusation, the results of the match will stand.

Illegal actions/Track behavior
  • Ringing
  • Faking
  • Pitting
  • Obstruction of other vehicles
  • Ramming
  • Cutting tracks
  • Crashing
  • Corner-cutting

Code of Conduct:
The Code of conduct is a great way to encourage the right kind of behaviors (both on and off-track). Going out of your way to intentionally cause a wreck/wrecking in races goes against the spirit of the game and can result in a driver being penalized or disqualified. While the occasional drift taps or nudge is unavoidable, reckless or malicious driving can warrant enforcement action. Harassment of another driver via XBL message or voice chat is against UGC’s harassment policy and can warrant enforcement action.
  • First Offense: Warning by UGC admin
  • Second Offense: The driver will be given a time penalty
  • Third Offense: The driver will be disqualified for the week and receive no points.

Disqualification:
Any and all disqualifications are at the sole discretion of the UGC admin overseeing the tournament.
